The Gate City Alumni Chapter proudly recognizes Marcus C. Ledbetter ’01 as our October Chapter Spotlight recipient! A December 2001 graduate of North Carolina A&T State University, Marcus earned his Bachelor of Science in Fashion Merchandising and Design with a minor in Marketing. Since joining the Gate City Alumni Chapter in 2022, he has continued to demonstrate his commitment to Aggie Pride through professional excellence, community engagement, mentorship, and service.
Marcus has built a successful career with Ralph Lauren, working in Global Supply Chain and Logistics. Beyond his professional responsibilities, he actively contributes to initiatives promoting diversity, inclusion, employee engagement, and community support. His commitment to leadership extends beyond the workplace, including more than 13 years of service as a PGA Tournament Chairman for the Wyndham Championship. He also serves as Marketing Director for BEM Sports Entertainment and Chief Executive Officer of Living Better Consulting Services, LLC, which provides personal clothing consulting, event services, and other lifestyle-focused offerings.
A dedicated community advocate, Marcus has participated in the Other Voices Program through the Greensboro Chamber of Commerce and Experience Greensboro and serves in advisory capacities with Crossroads Boys Mentoring Group and Beatty Gives. His passion for mentorship is especially evident through his work with young people, including professional development and clothing seminars through Men on the Move. Centered on the message that “Jordans are not the only thing to invest in,” these conversations encourage students to prioritize professional presentation, personal branding, financial responsibility, and investing in their futures.
Within the Gate City Alumni Chapter, Marcus actively serves on the Social, Student Engagement, and Membership teams while supporting chapter and university fundraising events, including alumni golf tournaments. His contributions have also been instrumental in establishing valuable partnerships with local businesses, helping strengthen the chapter’s community relationships and outreach efforts. Recognized by his fellow chapter members for his willingness to contribute his time, talents, and resources, Marcus consistently demonstrates that meaningful leadership begins with service.
His dedication to North Carolina A&T extends directly to its students. Marcus serves as a guest panelist for projects within the university’s Fashion Merchandising and Design program, sharing industry knowledge and encouragement with aspiring professionals. Through BEM Sports Entertainment, he has also helped provide Thanksgiving meals to student-athletes and members of the Blue & Gold Marching Machine who were unable to return home for the holiday. Additionally, he supports Aggie athletics and university traditions through his involvement with the Aggie Athletic Foundation and Blue & Gold Loyalty Foundation.
For Marcus, the Aggie experience is deeply personal. His journey began in 1995 when he was introduced to North Carolina A&T as a student at Anson Senior High School in Wadesboro, North Carolina. During his time at the university, his involvement with the A&T Fellowship Gospel Choir helped shape his appreciation for fellowship, teamwork, discipline, and service. Today, he continues to honor those experiences by helping create opportunities for others.
Perhaps one of his proudest achievements is seeing his family’s Aggie legacy continue across generations. With a third-generation Aggie now attending North Carolina A&T, Marcus takes particular pride in knowing that the traditions and experiences he shared with his nephews helped inspire their educational aspirations.
For Marcus, Aggie Pride is more than a degree, university traditions, or wearing blue and gold. It is a lifelong responsibility to represent excellence, uplift others, and ensure future generations have opportunities to succeed.
The Gate City Alumni Chapter proudly celebrates Marcus C. Ledbetter for his professional accomplishments, unwavering commitment to service, and continued dedication to strengthening the Aggie community.”
