The Gate City Chapter proudly recognizes Tanesha Boone Smith as our Alumni Spotlight Award Winner for February 2026.
A native of Chadbourn, North Carolina, Tanesha is a proud graduate of North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. Continuing her commitment to academic excellence, she later obtained her MBA from High Point University.
Today, Tanesha serves as a Vice President and Senior Business Control Specialist at Bank of America. In this role, she specializes in risk management and strengthening the organization’s business control environment. She partners across teams to ensure processes operate safely, efficiently, and with strong governance. Her professional excellence has been recognized through numerous honors, including Six Sigma Green Belt certification, the Leadership Impact Award, the Building Better Leaders Award, and the Operational Excellence Award.
For Tanesha, choosing A&T was both intentional and deeply personal. As a fourth-generation HBCU graduate and second-generation Aggie, she proudly continues a legacy rooted in education, excellence, and service to mankind. A&T represents the values she holds highest: community, culture, leadership, and opportunity. She truly embodies the Aggie spirit: Aggie Born; Aggie Bred.
Among her many treasured memories in AggieLand, being initiated into the Alpha Mu Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. stands out as a defining moment. Growing up inspired by her mother and many “Delta Aunties,” she long dreamed of carrying forward the sorority’s legacy of sisterhood, scholarship, and public service. That dream became reality at A&T, further strengthening her foundation of leadership and service.
One of the most meaningful lessons Tanesha gained during her time at A&T was the value of true friendship. The bonds she formed have grown alongside her through marriages, childbirths, celebrations, and life’s many milestones. These relationships remain among the most enduring and cherished connections in her life.
When asked to describe A&T in three words, she chose, Proud. Resilient. Transformative.
The Gate City Chapter celebrates Tanesha Boone Smith for her professional excellence, unwavering Aggie pride, and continued commitment to leadership and service. Congratulations on this well-deserved honor!”
